The Ou Gallery | The Ou‑telier Residency + Writing Retreat | Vancouver Island | Call for Applications
The Ou-telier is a process-based artist residency and writing retreat located in a historic boatbuilding workshop in the beautiful Quw’utsun/Warmland of the Cowichan Valley, the heart of Vancouver Island. They welcome applications from emerging and established writers, painters, photographers, textile + 2D artists. They’re looking for creatives who demonstrate a commitment to their practice and love hosting folks who are self-directed, focused and kind.
Eligibility:
• Artists and writers from anywhere in the world, including South Asian artists
• Emerging and established practitioners in disciplines such as writing, painting, photography, textiles, and 2D media
• Self‑directed and committed creatives who want dedicated time to work
What’s Offered:
• 2‑week and 4‑week residency options (you choose)
• Private bedroom and shared living space in an idyllic natural setting
• 24/7 access to a dedicated studio space in a historic workshop environment
• A chance to focus deeply on your work with minimal distractions
Fees:
• 2‑week stay: ~CAD 1,250 + GST (approx. USD 910)
• 4‑week stay: ~CAD 2,500 + GST (approx. USD 1,820) (Residents are responsible for travel and meals.)
